Deputy Director

Dr Malcolm Horsburgh , Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences, University of Liverpool, and a member of the University of Liverpool Microbiome Innovation Centre. My research interests are focused on the bacteria that colonise human skin, in particular species of Staphylococcus. Response and survival mechanisms that enable the bacteria to respond the abiotic and biotic factors of skin are studied. A particular emphasis is currently focused on interactions between members of the skin microbial community and investigating speciation of Staphylococcus species of skin.
