SMiHA hosts its first in-person event in Manchester, UK
49 delegates and members of the SMiHA community gathered at the University of Manchester, UK for the first in person SMiHA event. The event was a 'Sandpit' style where delegates discussed issues and gaps in the research and patient/consumer outcomes in terms of Skin Ageing and the Microbiome.
Delegates came from all over the country and were a mixture of academic, clinical and industry. Topics covered included 'what is missing in the field?' and guest speaker Barry Murphy alongside Mike Hoptroff from Unilever set the room the task of questioning 'how do we prove it is the microbiome causing the ageing effect and not vice versa'.
The event received great feedback and did give the sense of community within the skin ageing and microbiome field. New collaborations were formed and we very much look forward to meeting as a network again.
